Data Logging: Essential for High-Performance Diesel Trucks

Data logging is crucial for optimizing and protecting your diesel truck, especially after adding performance modifications. Think of it as your truck's health check, recording vital information about its operation.

What is Data Logging?

Data logging captures real-time data from your truck's engine, including temperature, fuel consumption, power output, and more. This information provides valuable insights into how your engine performs.

Why is Data Logging Important?

When you install performance upgrades (turbochargers, fuel mods, etc.), data logging helps ensure these modifications work correctly and safely. It allows technicians to fine-tune your engine's tune for maximum performance and prevents potential problems. It's like a doctor monitoring a patient's vital signs after a procedure.

How to Data Log (using an AutoCal device):

  1. Warm-Up: Start your truck and let it reach normal operating temperature.

  2. Connect AutoCal: Plug the AutoCal into your truck's OBD-II port.

  3. Access Scan Tool: On the AutoCal, go to the Scan Tool menu, then "Data Logging," and "Record Data." Follow your technician's specific instructions.

  4. Drive & Record: Drive your truck normally while the AutoCal records data.

  5. Stop Recording: Stop recording and safely remove the AutoCal.

  6. Transfer Data: Connect the AutoCal to your Windows computer via USB.

  7. Download EFI Live File Explorer: Download and install EFI Live File Explorer (if you don't have it).

  8. Locate Logs: In EFI Live File Explorer, go to the Scan folder and drag the data logs to your desktop.

  9. Email Logs: Reply to your technician's email and attach the data logs. Keep the email thread active.

Why Technicians Need Your Data Logs:

Technicians analyze data logs to assess your truck's performance and make necessary tuning adjustments. This ensures your engine runs efficiently, safely, and maximizes the benefits of your performance modifications.
