Who's Behind the Tunes

My name is Matthew Witz. I'm the founder, owner, and head calibrator at Piston Twistin LLC. I didn't come up through marketing — I came up through garages.

It started young. The first time I watched Grave Digger tear through a stadium, felt the ground shake, and smelled race fuel in the air, I was done for. Those early years — weekends in the shop with my dad working on cars and motorcycles — taught me discipline, pride in craftsmanship, and a drive to keep improving that's never left.

My automotive career began at a Honda Powersports dealership, where I worked the parts counter before moving into the shop. From there I covered dirt bikes, ATVs, side-by-sides, and street bikes. I enrolled in an automotive vocational program and graduated with multiple ASE certifications, then joined a local repair shop where I worked on virtually every make and model imaginable. That chapter taught me the technical depth I rely on daily — and the communication and organization skills that make a shop actually run right.

A few years later I bought my dream truck: a 2015 LML Duramax. Like a lot of enthusiasts, I was eager to get it tuned. And like some of them, I got burned by someone well-known in the diesel space. That experience cost me, but it also gave me a clear purpose.

That's when Piston Twistin was born.

Every tune that leaves this shop is calibrated by me personally. That means consistent quality, direct accountability, and a calibrator who knows the platforms — EFI Live, EZ Lynk, HP Tuners, WinOLS — and the engines they run on.

How the Tune Process Works

Here's what to expect from intake to flash:

  1. Intake & Discovery — You submit your vehicle details, mods list, and goals via our tune request form. The more detail you provide, the better calibrated your tune will be from the first pull.
  2. Strategy & Build — I review your setup and build a tune strategy matched to your platform and power goals. If something doesn't add up, I'll reach out directly before proceeding.
  3. Delivery — Your tune file is delivered to your device (EFI Live, EZ Lynk, HP Tuners, etc.) with loading instructions.
  4. Data Logging & Revision — You data log your first pulls and send the logs back. I review and revise as needed — same-day response on revisions during normal business hours.
  5. Dialed In — We iterate until your truck is where it needs to be. Period.

Our Guarantee

Every tune comes with lifetime unlimited revisions. If your setup changes, if you add mods, if your goals shift — send a log and we'll revisit it. You won't be charged to tune the truck you already paid to have tuned.
