Eaton H052/72 Axle Disc Brake Conversion Kit

Full disc brake kit to replace factory drums on Eaton H052/72 axles

This kit includes everything needed to convert the rear Eaton H052/72 axle from drum to disc brakes. It’s a cleaner, lighter, and more effective solution compared to rebuilding old drum setups. You’ll see improved stopping power, easier maintenance, and reduced unsprung weight after the swap.

The brackets are based on our 14 Bolt pattern, which also fits Eaton axles used by GM from 1965–1972. Installation requires single steel wheels (15" with max 4" backspacing) or larger aluminum wheels. Some Eaton hubs will require stud changes or drilling to accept rotors, especially on 1971 and older models.

Key Features

  • Part Number: R2053
  • Compatible with Eaton H052/H072 axles ('65–'72)
  • Converts drum brakes to disc brakes
  • Uses standard GM-style calipers (or El Dorado calipers)
  • Brackets fit on the backside of the hub
  • Works with 3/8-24" inverted flare brake hard line fittings
  • Requires 15" steel wheels with max 4" backspacing or larger aluminum wheels

  • (2) Eaton H052/72 Axle Disc Brake Brackets
  • (2) Weld-on Brake Line Tabs
  • (2) Brake Line Clips

Note

This kit does not work with slip-on drums — rotors must mount behind the hub. Hubs from 1971 and earlier may require different studs or drilling to accept rotors. Make sure studs drop freely into the rotors — do not press them in. Ensure you have at least 5/8" of lug nut thread engagement after installation.

A proportioning valve is recommended to tune front/rear brake bias. Remove any residual valve in the master cylinder or brake line to avoid rear brake drag or lockup. Final step: don’t forget to bleed the brakes after installation.
